Be Promoted to a Venture Hub Administrator Role

After completing the R@W Pedagogy training and either becoming a member of a Venture Hub or requesting the creation of one, you will be promoted to an administrator role and can create a team(s).

How to Create a Venture Team

Once you become a member of a venture hub or have one created for you, and have been promoted to an organizer of the venture hub, and obtained an R@W Pedagogy certificate, you can start organizing a competition by creating venture competing teams.
During your R@W Pedagogy training, you were asked to invite your students to the venture hub that was created for your venture.
If you haven’t done this, please do it before creating a team, as you won’t be able to invite your students to the team if they are not members of the venture hub.
For example, at a request, a Venture Hub titled “Critter Guard: Shielding Homes while Hugging Wildlife” was created for you, and your students became members of this venture hub. This venture invites students to compete in finding wildlife-friendly solutions to protect people’s houses, businesses, and farms from damage caused by wildlife.
Now you have to create competing teams formed of your students.
Follow these step-by-step instructions to organize your team for the learning venture contest.
To begin with, navigate to the Ventures dashboard where all the venture hubs are listed.
Click ‘Create a Team’ as indicated in the screenshot.

Step 1 – Details
On the page, you’re taken to “Create A New Team” – Details, write the name of the team and a description of what this team will be focusing on in this venture. For example, your team might be looking at how people’s houses, businesses, and farms can be protected from the damage caused by silver-crested cockatoos while also finding bird-friendly methods.
Please note that the name of the team and the description can be changed later after being finalized by the team.
Click ‘Create Group and Continue’.

Step 2 – Settings
On the page, you’re taken to “Create A New Team” – Settings, set up permissions for the team members.
This team is a hidden space, and only organizers can invite new members to join the team.
However, all members of the team are allowed to post and discuss their updates within the hidden team space.
Please distribute the permissions within the group following the example in the screenshot.
At the bottom of the form, select the parent group “Critter Guard: Shielding Homes while Hugging Wildlife.”
This will nest the team inside this venture hub.
Click ‘Next’.

Step 3 – Photo
On this page, you need to upload the team’s logo. If you don’t have it yet, you can leave the page as it is and click ‘Next Step’.
If you have the logo ready, upload it to the specified space and adjust it as needed.
Then, click ‘Next Step’.

Step 4 – Cover Photo
On this page, similar to the team’s logo, if you don’t have the cover photo yet, you can leave the page as it is and click ‘Next Step’.
If you have the cover image ready, upload it to the specified space.
Then, click ‘Next Step’.

Step 5/1 – Invite
If your students have become members of the Critter Guard venture hub, you can see them on the left side of the screen.
They are members of the public venture hub but not yet part of your hidden venture team.
You have to invite them first.

Click on the plus sign next to each student and then click the button ‘Send’.

Step 6 – Assign a Moderator
After the group is created and students have accepted the invitations, you need to promote an influencer of the team to the role of moderator. This doesn’t mean that the influencer automatically becomes the manager of the team. R@W venture teams learn to collaborate on equal ground.
Promotion of the influencer to the role of moderator means that this person is in charge of representing the team’s progression
in the public space – the venture hub.
To designate the influencer as a moderator, click on your venture hub “Critter Guard” to enter the hub. Now you will see your team ‘Cockatoo Crew’ nested inside the hub.
Enter the team by clicking its title..

Step 6-1 – Promoting a Moderator
Now you’re inside your ‘Cockatoo Crew’ team space. You can see your students displayed on the right-hand side of the screen, indicating they are inside the team.
To promote one of them to a moderator role, click on the ‘Manage’ tab and then select ‘Members.’

Step 6-2 – Promote a Moderator
Under the ‘Members’ section, find the student you want to promote to the role of moderator.
Click on the ‘Promote to Moderator’.

Now you can start organising your contest.
Wishing you and your team the best of luck as you embark on this exciting venture!
Happy innovating!
