Joining R@W Teachers’ Community
Ripples@Work (R@W) is an innovative system that reimagines education, offering an alternative to traditional learning. Rather than addressing isolated aspects of formal education, R@W reshapes the entire learning experience from the ground up.
At its core, R@W creates a dynamic learning ecosystem – LearnScape, supported by a robust infrastructure that redefines traditional teaching and learning.
R@W Ventures are the practical expressions of this ecosystem, bringing innovative principles to life through real-world applications and experiences.
However, without the professional development offered by R@W, it’s difficult for teachers to effectively implement the program and manage ventures. To avoid frustration, confusion, and wasted time, educators aiming to become RippleVenture Guides for competing teams must join the Teachers’ Hub and complete four professional development modules.
These modules are essential for earning the R@W Pedagogy Certificate and gaining access to tools for creating and leading teams within the Venture Hubs. Attending R@W’s professional development sessions is not just a requirement—it’s a transformative opportunity. Through this training, teachers will develop the skills and insights needed to foster a groundbreaking learning environment. They’ll be prepared to navigate uncharted territory, integrating smart machines, mentoring students, and implementing innovative teaching approaches.
By joining the R@W Teachers’ Hub, you’ll connect with a vibrant community of educators. Gain access to exclusive materials and tasks, and share your opinions, concerns, and success stories within a supportive network of peers.

This module introduces educators to the Ripples@Work Learning Ventures model, emphasising a transformative approach to teaching that aligns with 21st-century challenges.
Led by Dr. Lena Redman, the training explores a startup-based learning model, where validated learning, feedback loops, and simulated real-world ventures, enhanced by a social media component for collaboration and competition, equip students to navigate the complex natural, social, and technological landscapes they will encounter.
Through this training, participants will learn to adapt their teaching strategies to foster innovation, adaptability, and both self-regulated and team-adjusted learning in students.
The program emphasises that education is not just about using technology to enhance engagement but about developing the savvy to leverage it in ways that meet students’ individual capabilities and foster collaborative work—helping them address deeper issues in a rapidly evolving world.
This module introduces educators to the foundational concepts of teaming, participatory creativity, and multimodal, interdisciplinary learning within the Ripples@Work framework. It emphasises the importance of dynamic collaboration (“teaming on the fly”) in knowledge-based, 21st-century organisations, where lifelong learning and collective innovation are essential.
Through real-world startup simulations, educators will learn how to engage their students—who may come from diverse academic backgrounds—in problem-solving activities that tackle real-life challenges and support venture creation. The module also highlights the role of flexible contributors, who provide expert insights, and introduces a unique metacognitive tool for self-reflection: the cinematic folio.
By fostering participatory culture and interactive learning, educators will gain the skills to guide their students to represent themselves multimodally, honing both technical and critical thinking skills—skills essential for thriving in an evolving global economy.
This module delves into Ripples@Work’s innovative approach to creativity, defined through methodologies such as remix, bricolage, and strategic tinkering. It highlights how these creative processes align with modern learning, fostering a critical balance between self-realisation and contributing to the common good.
Through real-world startup simulations, learners engage in interdisciplinary, multimodal projects that explore sustainability, innovation, and teamwork. The module introduces practical strategies for creativity—such as curious juxtaposition, cross-fertilisation, and a transformational thinking triad that includes empathic creativity.
The module culminates in a focus on transformational creativity as an approach to cognitive development, emphasising innovation that challenges and enhances current systems to meet evolving real-world needs.
This module explores the concept of the Digital Learning Scape (DLS)—a virtual dimension that immerses people in interest-driven spaces, often transforming learning without formal recognition. Drawing on James Gee’s concept of affinity spaces, the DLS challenges traditional educational environments where knowledge is distributed by teachers and textbooks.
Through the Ripples@Work model, learning is restructured around individual, team, and venture-based projects, utilising innovative tools such as Cinematic Folios, Detectives’ Studios, and Venture Hubs. These interest-driven spaces enable students to engage in metacognitive activities, using multimodal symbols and associations to construct their own understanding.
R@W’s unique assessment system, based on Participatory Creativity and Cinematic Folios, evaluates the process of knowledge generation with a focus on resourcefulness, collaboration, and the evolution of ideas.
The module highlights how these virtual spaces foster meaningful engagement, introduce innovative approaches to objective assessment, and guide learners toward navigating the complexities of the real world.
